I Am Not What I Am
Archetypal villain Iago was born in order to suffer. Now, in hell, he avenges himself against a non-existent God.
An investigation of Shakespeare’s Iago, articulated through butoh and monologue. Sources include Othello, Verdi’s Otello, The Gospel of Mark, The Book of Job, Camus’ The Myth of Sisyphus, Lautréamont’s Maldoror, and the Oedipus plays of Sophocles, among others.
